Our first session is an opportunity to begin getting to know each other and explore what has brought you to counselling. There’s no pressure to tell your whole story at once. We’ll talk about what feels important to you, what you’d like support with, and begin to get a sense of how we might work together.

Finding the right counsellor is personal, and it’s important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose. I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so you can ask questions, tell me a little about what you’re looking for and get a sense of whether working together feels right. There’s no pressure to decide there and then.

 a {     text-decoration: none;     color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td {     border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th {     background-color: #f5f5f5; }

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem or navigating a period of change. Sometimes there isn’t one particular problem, but a sense of feeling stuck, disconnected or not quite yourself. Counselling gives us space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface, understand patterns and make sense of what you’re feeling.

 a {     text-decoration: none;     color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td {     border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th {     background-color: #f5f5f5; }

It’s completely understandable to feel nervous about starting counselling, particularly if you’re used to coping alone or find it difficult to talk about how you feel. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or where to begin. We can start gently, at your pace, and make sense of what brings you to counselling together.

 a {     text-decoration: none;     color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td {     border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th {     background-color: #f5f5f5; }

Not at all - sometimes you know exactly what has brought you to counselling, and sometimes you simply know that something doesn’t feel right. You don’t need to arrive with a clear goal or be able to explain everything perfectly. We can begin with what’s happening for you now and gently explore what emerges together.

Counselling is usually most supportive when sessions have some regularity, particularly while we’re building our therapeutic relationship. I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions, and we can talk together about what feels most appropriate for you, your circumstances and what you’d like from counselling.

Yes. I have a particular interest in working with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) and understand how deeply feeling and processing the world can sometimes contribute to overwhelm, anxiety or self-doubt. Counselling can offer space to understand your sensitivity more fully, recognise what your nervous system needs and begin relating to this part of yourself with greater acceptance and self-trust.

Not at all. While I have a particular interest in high sensitivity, you don’t need to identify as a Highly Sensitive Person to work with me. I welcome people with a wide range of experiences and reasons for seeking counselling. What matters is that you feel my approach might offer the kind of space and support you’re looking for.

Yes. I offer face-to-face counselling in Exeter city centre, as well as online sessions, so you can choose the option that feels most comfortable and practical for you. Whichever way we meet, my aim is to offer the same warm, confidential and supportive space.

Yes. I enjoy working with university students and understand that this stage of life can bring its own pressures, from academic stress and anxiety to relationships, identity, self-esteem and navigating greater independence. Counselling can offer a steady space to step back from everything you’re carrying and make sense of what’s happening for you. I also offer a reduced student rate.

Counselling sessions are £55 for 50 minutes. I also offer a reduced rate for university students and a discounted block booking of six sessions if you prefer to plan ahead. You’re welcome to book a free 15-minute introductory call before deciding whether you’d like to begin.

The Insight Space is a private library of reflective worksheets, psychoeducation and self-discovery resources that you can explore in your own time. It’s there to support curiosity and deeper self-understanding between sessions, without any expectation or pressure to complete anything. Counselling clients receive complimentary access.

Yes. Confidentiality is an important part of counselling, and what you share with me is treated with care and respect. There are some circumstances where I may need to share information, such as if there is a serious risk of harm or a safeguarding concern. I’ll explain confidentiality and its limits clearly when we begin working together, and wherever possible, any concerns would be discussed with you first.

 a {     text-decoration: none;     color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td {     border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th {     background-color: #f5f5f5; }

The free 15-minute introductory call is a gentle, no-obligation opportunity for us to meet before you decide whether you’d like to begin counselling. You can tell me a little about what has brought you here, ask any questions you may have and get a sense of whether working together feels right. There’s no expectation to share anything you’re not ready to talk about.

 a {     text-decoration: none;     color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td {     border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th {     background-color: #f5f5f5; }

After our call, I’ll send you a follow-up email with a welcome letter, a copy of the counselling agreement and my current availability. You can then take some time to consider everything in your own space, and get back in touch if you’d like to book.

 a {     text-decoration: none;     color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td {     border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th {     background-color: #f5f5f5; }

If you feel ready to take the next step, you can get in touch through my contact page to arrange a free 15-minute introductory call. We can talk briefly about what brings you to counselling, what you’re looking for and whether working together feels right. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you reach out; we can begin wherever you are.

 a {     text-decoration: none;     color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td {     border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th {     background-color: #f5f5f5; }

There isn’t a set amount of time that counselling should take. Some people come with something quite specific they’d like to explore, while others value having more time to understand deeper patterns or experiences. We can regularly reflect together on how the work is feeling, what is changing and whether counselling is continuing to be helpful for you.
